WHO WE ARE:

We are a service repair depot for electronic musical instruments located in South Bend, Indiana. We provide local drop-off and depot repair service to a large network of clients. The Music Repair Depot LLC maintains total independence and does not provide any services or repairs directly to any dealers or retailers. We also provide contract repair services for other service providers.

WHY CHOOSE US:

We take repairing your equipment very seriously, that's all we do here is fix broken music equipment that needs repaired. Unlike most dealers that have service centers, most nowadays don't have, they generally are most interested in selling you new music equipment.

We operate with the latest and greatest of equipment. We have some very high-tech gadgetry and maintain a very high internet presence. We are very hi-tech around here.

TRUE DEDICATED SERVICE:

The idea of dealers providing service for their customer adds a certain bias to their repairs. It has been known that some dealers will take in a repair and tell the customer that it can't be repaired because the parts are not available or it would be cheaper to buy a new one. The reality here is that they just want to sell you new equipment or they don't know how to fix it economically due to lack of experienced technicians. 

 

THE MOST EXPERIENCED TECHNICIANS:

Most dealer operated service centers don't have experienced technicians due to the fact that they don't pay their technicians what they are worth. Once they get experience they can move on to becoming self-employed musical instrument repairers. You will rarely find a service technician in the musical instrument repair service with more that 5 years experience working  for a dealer. Nearly two thirds of all experienced technicians are self employed musical instrument repairers. Servicing equipment for most dealers is a nuisance and a necessary evil to their business. The current trend is for independent servicer's to provide service for the music retailers. Currently independent servicer's provide over 90 % of the repairs in the electronic musical instrument repair field. 

 

The senior technician of The Music Repair Depot LLC has over 25 years experience in the service industry and is an active musician himself. All employees are drug tested and are active musicians. Technicians are trained and certified as required.

 

PROFITABLE SERVICE MEANS BETTER QUALITY SERVICES:

Most dealers that have service centers operate what is called a "Service Assisted Sales". 

These service departments do not actually make any profit for the company and actually put a financial drain on the resources of those dealers. This is one of the main reasons your largest music equipment dealers don't have service centers. They lose money because of the lack of experienced personnel required to operate a service center that makes a profit. Here at The Music Repair Depot LLC we don't sell music equipment, we leave that up to the experts in that field "THE DEALERS". 

 

WE DON'T CARE WHERE YOU BOUGHT IT FROM:

We don't care where you bought your music equipment from, we will fix it. Try taking your music equipment to a dealer that has a service center and you didn't buy it from them, they won't even look at it or want to send it of somewhere out of state and you will have to wait 3 months on it. Music dealers that have their own service center generally service only what they sell. They sure want your service business if you bought it from their competition, don't they?

 

TOTAL INDEPENDENT SERVICE CENTER:

We are not owned or operated by any dealer or manufacture. Some of the largest manufacturers of the electronic music equipment industry have closed their factory service centers in lieu of using the expert repairers in the independent service center field. 

 

CONTRACTED SERVICES TO MANUFACTURERS:

Some manufacturers are now contracting out their factory service to independent service centers due to the fact that most of all of the experienced technicians are self-employed and own their service centers.

OUR SERVICE CENTER OPERATION:

The Music Repair Depot LLC is located in South Bend, Indiana. We provide walk-in service at our repair facility by appointment only.  Some units may be serviceable by on site repair. Pickup or delivery by us or other third party may also be used. We are insured, registered and licensed in the state of Indiana.

WHAT WE SERVICE:

We provide Warranty and Non-Warranty service on most musical equipment.

We currently do not service any acoustic instruments, vintage equipment, band instruments, guitars or do rebuilds or restorations. Some instruments are of a hybrid design and use electronics, we do service some of those instruments. Contact our service center for more information about those instruments.

TURNAROUND TIME:

Normal turnaround time (not including shipping to and from our service center.) is approximately 1-2 weeks. units are generally looked at in 1-2 days after we receive it. Due to issues out of our control our turnaround time fluctuates. If you are a gigging musician, Church or you need your equipment repaired quickly, please let us know in advance so we can expedite your repair. PLEASE KEEP IN MIND SOME PARTS REQUIRE SPECIAL ORDERING AND MAY HAVE TO COME FROM JAPAN OR EUROPE. THESE TIME FRAMES ARE GENERALLY 4-8 WEEKS DEPENDING ON THE MANUFACTURER. WE MAKE ABSOLUTELY NO CLAIM OR GUARANTEE OF PART ORDERING TIMES. PLEASE BE PATIENT AS WE HAVE A GOOD REPORT WITH OUR MANUFACTURERS AND WILL GET YOUR UNIT REPAIRED QUICKER THAN MOST SERVICER'S

RATES:

Our service rates per hour are higher on average than your typical dealer charges. We believe in the best value for the customer, it's not about the hourly rate. It is less expensive in the end for you to pay us our rates, than to pay another servicer less per hour and they charge for more time. Our experience allows us to complete most repairs within 1 hour. Overall you will pay less for the repair. 

 

We have less than a 1% failure rate on everything we repair within our own warranty period . Most of those failures are due to no fault of our own. If we damage or do something to your equipment that is our fault, we will take care of it at no charge.

 

All non-warranty repairs require a bench/diagnostic fee which must be paid in advance, unless the unit is covered under manufactures warranty or ext-warranty. All field service calls must be paid in advance, unless under manufactures warranty. The bench/diagnostic fee is deducted from the repair when completed. Please note that we cannot provide quotes or estimates over the phone. We must diagnose your equipment before a determination can be made about the cost of repairing your equipment..

CONTACTING US:

You will always be able to communicate with the service administrator who is the "liaison" for the service department and is in direct contact with the technicians, manufacturers, and service plan administrators involved with repairing your equipment. Irritating and annoying answering services, foreign customer service call centers, voice mail prompt systems, secretary or other unknowledgeable person to circumvent you from talking to a knowledgeable person about your repair are not used here as in most service centers . We prefer that you communicate with us via the web thru our website or email. If you wish to call us you may occasionally get voicemail but your call will be returned promptly.

 

Most larger service centers have "Service Managers" which are merely managers to manage people. Here the "Service Administrator" has some technical knowledge but primarily involved with every aspect of the repair start to finish except for actually fixing it. This frees up technicians for more efficient bench time. Our service center setup structure used is similar to that of the automotive repair field.

GETTING YOUR EQUIPMENT TO US:

We accept all shipped in repairs and accept local drop-offs by appointment. You will need to fill out the  New Repair Login before shipping or dropping off your repair to us.  Please make sure that you provide us with any adapters, power cords, pedals, disks or any other items with your equipment.

PURCHASING PARTS AND ACCESSORIES:

We do not sell any parts, accessories, owners/service manuals directly to the public, unless part of a repair. We will not install any parts not purchased by us in any equipment we repair, with the exception of some equipment upgrades that must be purchased from your dealer and are not customer installable. Please contact the manufacturer for information about purchasing parts and accessories for your equipment.

BUYING AND SELLING NEW OR USED EQUIPMENT:

We do occasionally buy and sell used equipment on Ebay. We are not a musical instrument dealer. We do buy some equipment for parts not including including pianos, organs or vintage equipment. Due to our service center structure we are committed in providing only service and repair on electronic musical equipment that is currently supported by the manufacturer. Do not call us for referral information to sell or donate your used equipment. EBay is now a very popular choice in selling used music equipment.

TECHNICAL SUPPORT:

Due to the complexity of some equipment, tech support may be needed to determine if your equipment needs sent in or dropped off for repair. I.E.  reinitializations, hard resets, reinstalling software, programming, general operation, etc. Please do not call us for the installation of parts, upgrades, operational or technical support of your equipment. Contact the manufacturers technical support department or the dealer you purchased from for more information. IF WE FIND AFTER EVALUATING YOUR INSTRUMENT THAT IT DOES NOT NEED TO BE REPAIRED, I.E NEEDS reinitializations, hard resets, reinstalling software, programming, general operation, etc YOU WILL BE CHARGED A BENCH FEE AND YOUR UNIT WILL BE RETURNED AFTER THE BENCH FEE IS PAID. THESE PROBLEMS ARE CONSIDERED USER ERROR OR TECH SUPPORT ISSUES AND WARRANTY AND EXT-WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THESE ISSUES.
